The DEPS (in French, Département des études, de la prospective et des statistiques) forms part of the national official statistics system. It is the Ministry of Culture and Communication’s service for cultural socio-economic studies and its Ministerial statistics service (linked to INSEE).

• Cultural statistics

In October 2007 a first pocketbook "Cultural statistics"  has been published by Eurostat, containing comparable data relating to culture that are available within the European Statistical System. The publication also includes some information from other sources (UNESCO, Eurobarometer).
